Q What is eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER?
A eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER is a new product based on eDrawings. This software extends the functionality of eDrawings to also provide tools for markup and measurement, by publishing eDrawings as review-enabled. Publishing review-enabled eDrawings is like embedding a markup pen in your document. Anyone who receives review-enabled eDrawings, can markup and measure it with the free eDrawings Viewer, without having to purchase eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER themselves. In addition, eDrawings Professional includes advanced viewing capabilities such as dynamic component translation, and dynamic cross sectioning. eDrawings Professional includes the Publisher add-in for Pro/ENGINEER and AutoCAD.

A Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional, Windows® 2000, Windows NT® 4.0 with Service Pack 6 or later are supported.

Q What applications are required to publish eDrawings files?
A To publish eDrawings you must have one of Wildfire 1.0 or 2.0, Pro/ENGINEER 2000i2 or 2001 or SolidWorks 2003 or higher, AutoCAD 2000, or AutoCAD R14.x.

Q Is there anyway to prevent anyone from measuring my eDrawings?
A To protect your design data, measurement may be permanently disabled at the time of creation.

Q What Licensing models does eDrawings for Pro/ENGINEER support?
A eDrawings for Pro/ENGINEER is available both with Node lock license and Floating license.

Q Do I have to have Pro/ENGINEER installed on the same machine that I install eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER?
A No, you do not require any additional software to be installed for viewing eDrawings, although you will need Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks or AutoCAD in order to publish eDrawings directly from inside these applications.

Q I have installed eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER but cannot find *.prt or other Pro/ENGINEER file formats in eDrawings Open file menu?
A The eDrawings Viewer can not open Pro/ENGINEER files directly. The software consists of a Pro/ENGINEER publisher and the eDrawings viewer. The publisher is an add-on on Pro/ENGINEER. After installing the software, click on eDrawings->Publish menu-item in Pro/ENGINEER to publish the opened Pro/ENGINEER model to eDrawings. If you don't see the eDrawings menu in Pro/ENGINEER, please refer to the next FAQ.

Q I have installed eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER but the eDrawings menu does not appear in Pro/ENGINEER, what have I done wrong?
A To integrate eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER with Pro/ENGINEER, you must install Pro/ENGINEER before installing eDrawings. If you install eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER before installing Pro/ENGINEER, eDrawings will not be integrated with Pro/ENGINEER. The other reason could be the recent "time-out" issue acknowledged by PTC. Please, refer to the next FAQ.

Q What is time out issue in Pro/ENGINEER and how does it affect working of eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER?
A PTC has recently identified a bug that causes inter-process communications between Pro/ENGINEER and related application modules to time out prematurely on January 10, 2004. This issue affects instantiation of eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER. Please, refer to http://www.ptc.com/go/timeout/index.htm for further details.

Q Does my recipient need to have eDrawings Viewer installed in order to mark up a review-enabled eDrawings?
A If a review-enabled eDrawings file is sent in either executable (.exe), masked executable (.ex_) or HTML (.htm) format, the recipient does not have to have eDrawings Viewer installed to markup a review-enabled eDrawings file.

Q I have an earlier version of eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER. How do I install the latest version?
A Please uninstall earlier version of eDrawings Professional for Pro/ENGINEER and then install the new version. If you already have a valid license key of the earlier version, it will NOT work with this version. Please resubmit a new request at ed.support@geometricsoftware.com.
