Data Integration

IsoDraw realizes the integration of data using all possible ways and within the shortest amount of time.

The demands for modern Technical Illustration are of a different magnitude compared with those of the past. The creation of illustrations from scratch is only one aspect of the work involved. Technical Documentation, which tends to play a key role in the flow of enterprise information, calls for seamless integration of existing data. This includes 2D and 3D data from design as well as legacy archives of scanned images. Illustrations are to be used in all areas of the company: From printed documentation to use on the Internet. The integration of existing data is a core competency of IsoDraw. Integrating existing data instead of creation from scratch results in significant time savings.

Filters
IsoDraw has a large number of high quality filters for importing and exporting data: WebCGM, CGM, SVG, PNG, JPEG, DWG, IGES, DXF, HPGL, Adobe IllustratorT, WMF, EPS, TIFF, Macintosh Pict, PCX, Bit-map, CALS Raster, text extract. Interleaf ASCII and FrameMaker MIF are optional. Many industries insist on the use of the international standard format CGM. IsoDraw sets new levels of achievement in the support of all CGM versions (1-4) and of important industry profiles.

Integration of design data
Both 2D data and 3D wire frame models can be integrated, assuring the use of existing design data for creation of technical illustrations. There are also tools such as the extrusion or rotation surface tools for editing 2D CAD data, so that flat views can be converted into perspective illustrations in a few easy steps. If 3D surface data is available, these can be converted automatically using IsoDraw CADprocess to create high quality illustrations. Please see the corresponding ITEDO brochure for more details.

Link2SourceT Technology, a global break-through from ITEDO Software, allows the placement of files in the illustration and also the setting of attributes such as line thicknesses and colors, and the removal of particular information, such as dimensions. Similarly, the perspective of the inserted file in the illustration can be defined. There is a link to the source file and changes to the source data trigger automatic editing of the illustration including attribute settings by IsoDraw. All files readable with IsoDraw can be placed in the illustration. Link2SourceT Technology offers significant advantages in data integration where illustrations are to be used in various places, e.g. spare parts pages. If the illustration is changed, all the spare parts displays are updated automatically.

Illustrations in Documentation
Numerous export filters are included so that illustrations created with IsoDraw can be used in all standard documentation systems. Thanks to the strategic cooperation between ITEDO and Adobe Systems there is a close integration between IsoDraw and Adobe FrameMaker. The CGM filters developed by ITEDO have been included in FrameMaker. Double-clicking on the integrated illustration within FrameMaker will launch IsoDraw immediately for editing.

Illustrations on the Internet
After the illustrations have been exported from IsoDraw to WebCGM or SVG format (Scalable Vector Graphics), they can be used on the Internet without any further format conversion. IsoDraw or CGM illustrations are displayed using IsoView from ITEDO Software.
